What is RBT professional development?

Professional development encompasses training for RBTs to maintain their certification. These trainings should expand upon the RBT initial training, ethics code, other BACB requirements, and other relevant content appropriate for RBTs, such as working with supervisors, effective communication with clients, and managing workplace stress.

What is a professional development unit (PDU)?

One PDU unit is equal to at least 50 minutes of training content. So, if you attend a one hour professional development course, you'll be awarded one PDU.

Who can be a professional development instructor for RBTs?

Instructors must hold an active BCaBA, BCBA, or BCBA-D certification.

Is online professional development acceptable?

Yes, PD can be live in person or online—synchronous or asynchronous.

How many professional development hours do RBTs need?

RBTs need 12 PDUs every two years.
