BCBA® Certification Pathway 1 Alignment

The Ohio State M.Ed. in ABA program aligns with BCBA® Pathway 1. This is the most direct route to certification. This pathway requires completion of a master’s degree in behavior analysis that includes all required graduate-level coursework outlined by the BACB®.

The program is designed to meet degree and coursework requirements within a single integrated curriculum. As a result, students aren’t required to complete additional coursework beyond their degree to qualify for certification.

Successful completion of this program provides aspiring behavior analysts with the academic foundation needed to pursue eligibility for BCBA® certification.

ABAI Accreditation

OSU’s online ABA program is accredited by the Association for Behavior Analysis International (ABAI), the organization responsible for accrediting behavior-analytic training programs.

ABAI-accredited programs undergo a comprehensive review process to ensure they meet established standards related to curriculum quality, expertise, and preparation for professional practice.

Evidence-Based Real-World Learning

Ohio State University’s ABA program does more than teach the science behind behavior analysis. It prepares students to apply that knowledge in meaningful, real-world contexts. Throughout the program, students learn to design, implement, and evaluate evidence-based interventions that support individuals in school, clinics, and other settings.

The curriculum provides opportunities for aspiring behavior analysts to build skills in supporting academic, behavioral, communication, and daily living needs. Students also complete a portion of the supervised fieldwork required for Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA)® certification eligibility as part of the program, allowing them to gain practical experience while applying concepts learned in coursework. This applied focus prepares graduates for continued fieldwork experiences and supports their development as future behavior analysts.
